For years, Warren Buffett has been trying to hand out a cool million during March Madness. And guess what? He finally did it!

The Oracle of Omaha, now 94, told The Wall Street Journal he was determined to give the money away while he’s still Berkshire Hathaway’s chairman. “I’m getting older,” he said. “I want to give away a million dollars to somebody while I’m still around. ”

    Who’s the Lucky Winner?

Drumroll, please! The WSJ reports that an employee of FlightSafety International, a Berkshire subsidiary, snagged the prize. They’re staying anonymous, though.

The rules were simple (this year, anyway). Pick at least 30 of the 32 first-round game winners, and you’re a millionaire! In the past, you needed a perfect bracket. Talk about tough!

    Close Calls and Tiebreakers

But here’s the crazy part. Marc Hamburg, Berkshire’s CFO, said a whopping 12 brackets actually got 31 out of 32 games right!

How did they pick a winner? Tiebreaker time! They looked for the bracket with the longest streak of correct picks. Our winner nailed the first 29 games in a row!

“I feel good that we sort of hit the sweet spot on this one,” Buffett told the WSJ.

    Everyone’s a Winner (Almost)

The 11 runners-up didn’t go home empty-handed. Each gets a cool $100,000! Not bad, right?

Buffett himself doesn’t know the winner’s name, respecting their wish for privacy. A million dollars and anonymity? Sounds like a pretty good deal!
