Here’s the thing. Remember all those tariffs on Chinese goods? The ones that went up to 20% earlier this month? Well, President Trump might be willing to play ball. Maybe even cut those tariffs. But there’s a catch.

TikTok. Yep, that’s the magic word.

Word on the street is Trump hinted he’d consider easing up on those tariffs if China plays nice with the TikTok deal. You know, the one where TikTok has to find a new, U. S. -friendly owner?

A little give and take. “Maybe I’ll give them a little reduction in tariffs or something to get it done,” Trump reportedly said. He even suggested pushing back TikTok’s deadline to find a buyer. Interesting, right?

The Stakes? Higher Than You Think.

“Every point in tariffs is worth more money than TikTok,” Trump claimed. That’s a bold statement. But what’s really at stake here?

TikTok’s been in the hot seat for a while now. Remember that initial deadline to split from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance? It was January. Then Trump extended it to April 5th. More time to find a U. S. backer.

But who’s stepping up to the plate?

Who Wants a Piece of TikTok?

You’ve got everyone from YouTube star Jimmy Donaldson (aka MrBeast) to “Shark Tank” investor Kevin O’Leary throwing their hats in the ring. Even Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian is involved!

O’Leary and Frank McCourt (former LA Dodgers owner) even teamed up for something called “The People’s Bid for TikTok. ” They offered ByteDance $20 billion. That’s a lot of money! But is it enough?

Some experts think TikTok is worth way more. Like, over $100 billion. Without its secret algorithm? Maybe half that. Still a hefty sum.

    Why All the Fuss?

TikTok’s huge. We’re talking 170 million U. S. users. And get this: a ban, even for a month, could cost U. S. small businesses and creators over $1 billion. Ouch.

Is a tariff reduction worth it to get this deal done? It’s a gamble. But a potentially lucrative one.
