Remember that TikTok ban everyone was talking about? Well, hold on a second. It’s been delayed. Again.

President Trump just announced on Truth Social that he’s giving TikTok another 75 days to figure things out. Why? He says his administration is working hard to “SAVE TIKTOK” and that they’ve made “tremendous progress. ”

But the deal isn’t quite done yet. More approvals are needed. Another executive order is keeping TikTok alive for now.

Who’s Trying to Buy TikTok Anyway?

It feels like everyone and their brother is trying to get their hands on TikTok. We’re talking big names here.

Amazon and AppLovin threw their hats in the ring this week. But that’s not all! Think about this:

    • Billionaire Frank McCourt (the former L. A. Dodgers owner)
    • Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary
    • Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian

They all teamed up back in January to make an offer. Even AI startup Perplexity wants in, with a $50 billion offer to merge with TikTok’s U. S. operations.

    Leasing TikTok? What? !

This is where it gets interesting. ABC News is reporting that the Trump Administration is thinking about a lease deal. Leasing.

Here’s the deal: China could keep control of TikTok’s super-secret algorithm. But a U. S. company would hold a minority stake and, apparently, Oracle would supervise things. Oracle already helps TikTok with tech stuff behind the scenes.

    Why All the Fuss?

This whole TikTok thing started back in April 2024. Lawmakers were worried about your data. Could it end up in the hands of the Chinese government? That’s the question.

They passed a law to force ByteDance (TikTok’s owner) to sell. Or face a ban. Remember when TikTok went dark for a day? That was part of it.

    What’s Next?

The original deadline was April 5th. We have 75 more days. Trump says he’s looking forward to working with TikTok and China to “close the Deal. ”

Stay tuned. This story is far from over.
