Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick wants to rename the New York Strip. His idea? Call it the “Texas Strip. ”
Why? He says Texas has way more cattle than New York. Like, a whole lot more. He even tweeted about it. “Liberal New York shouldn’t get the credit for our hard-working ranchers,” he said.
He plans to file a resolution in the Texas Senate to make it official. After Congress is done for the summer, he might even celebrate with a “Texas Strip” on a cruise across the Gulf of… America.
But Why “New York Strip” in the First Place?
Good question. The New York Strip is a cut from the boneless strip loin. It’s known for being juicy and tender.
The name? It’s said to come from Delmonico’s, a famous New York City steakhouse. They claim to be the first fine dining restaurant in America, all the way back in 1827.
