Ever wonder if your name plays a tiny role in your success? I know, it sounds crazy. But stick with me.

Resume. io did something interesting. They dug through over 3,000 LinkedIn profiles. Their mission? To see if certain names popped up more often in leadership roles.

And guess what? They found some names are surprisingly common among the big bosses.

    The “Most Successful” Names

The study focused on top-level executives in the U. S. Think CEOs, managers, the whole shebang. They looked at LinkedIn and crunched the numbers.

    The winner? John.

Yep, plain old John. Apparently, it’s a name that screams “leadership. ”

    Here’s the top 5:

    • John
    • Michael
    • David
    • Robert
    • Mark

Johns were often CEOs. Michaels dominated the CFO spots. And Davids? They were all over the manager roles.

    Where Are the Women?

Here’s where things get a little less rosy. Only ONE female name cracked the top 10: Jennifer.

And before you ask, only about a third of the profiles they looked at were women.

Kimberly landed somewhere in the middle. But “Kim” was a popular choice for directors. Jennifer, Lisa, and Mary also topped the list for women.

    Why Does This Matter?

Amanda Augustine, a career coach at Resume. io, put it well. This report highlights a “long-standing trend” in corporate leadership.

Basically, some names appear more often in positions of power. It might reflect deeper societal and workplace biases.

Skills matter, of course. But unconscious bias can sneak in. It might influence hiring and promotion decisions. Favoring those with “classic American, masculine names. ”

    Something to think about, right?
