Kevin O’Leary is at it again. This time, he’s talking TikTok. And he’s not holding back.
The “Shark Tank” star recently took to Instagram. He shared a clip from a TV interview. Pajama pants and all!
His message? The clock is ticking for TikTok.
Another Extension? Don’t Bet On It
“We’re on our second 75-day extension,” O’Leary stated on Fox Business. But will there be a third? He doesn’t think so.
Remember the deadline? It was April 5th. Then, it got pushed back. Twice.
Even Trump weighed in. He mentioned his administration is “working very hard” to “save” the app.
Big Companies, Big Risks
O’Leary’s take? No major company wants to risk a massive fine. Think $5,000 per user if a ban happens.
A lease deal? Apparently, that’s off the table. “Shut down three weeks ago,” he claims.
Mid-June is the new deadline. Can they make it?
Rewriting the Rules
O’Leary points out a major hurdle. Anyone buying TikTok now has to rewrite the algorithm. A huge task.
He says it’s up to China’s President Xi Jinping. Will he sell? That’s the million-dollar question.
The People’s Bid: Still in the Game
O’Leary hasn’t given up. He’s teamed up with Frank McCourt, former owner of the Dodgers, for a bid called “The People’s Bid. ” Even Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian is involved.
There are other players too. AI startup Perplexity wants to merge with TikTok’s U. S. division. Amazon and Applovin have also reportedly made bids.
Despite all the complications, O’Leary is clear: he’s “100% still interested” in buying TikTok.
“Frank McCourt and I have been working on this for so long, we aren’t giving up,” he declared.
What’s next for TikTok? Stay tuned. The drama’s just getting started.
