Remember the Paris Olympics? Total gold, right? NBC totally crushed it. They had killer ratings and a ton of advertisers. More than Rio in 2016 *and* Tokyo in 2020. Seriously! And get this: their digital ad money? More than doubled since Tokyo. Record-breaking stuff.

    What’s the Big News?

NBCUniversal isn’t letting go of that winning streak. They just dropped a cool $3 billion to keep the Olympics on NBC and Peacock. All the way through 2036! No official word on whether Snoop Dogg will be back commentating. Fingers crossed!

    What Does This Mean?

They’ve got the rights to show the 2034 Winter Games in Salt Lake City and the 2036 Summer Olympics. This deal adds to their current contract, which already covers the games in Brisbane, Australia, in 2032.

    Why So Much Money?

Think about it: live events are HUGE right now. Like, crazy huge. TV networks and streaming services are throwing money at them. Why? To get new subscribers and rake in advertising dollars. It’s like the NFL, the NBA. .. even that Jake Paul/Mike Tyson fight. Everyone wants a piece of the action.

Comcast’s CEO, Brian Roberts, said it’s an honor to keep bringing the Olympics to American viewers. They want to use their know-how to make great content. And they’re promising to give the IOC some cool new tech stuff, too.

    The Bottom Line?

Live events are where it’s at. And NBC just made a major play to stay on top.
