A Quick Trip to the Edge of Space

The whole trip? Just about 11 minutes. But get this: they experienced four minutes of weightlessness. Imagine floating in space! The rocket soared to 62 miles above Earth. That’s the Kármán line, the spot where Earth’s atmosphere ends and space begins.

Then, it came back down, landing safely in the Texas desert.

Emotional Reactions

“I don’t really have words for it,” Sánchez said, clearly moved, after the flight. “I’m so proud of this crew. ” She described feeling “joy and complete togetherness. ”

Perry shared similar sentiments. She said the mission was about “appreciating Earth. ” And get this: she ranked the experience “second to being a mom. ” High praise!

“It is surrender to the unknown,” Perry added. “I couldn’t recommend this experience more. ”

More About the Crew

The flight took off at 9:30 a. m. ET from Blue Origin’s Texas launch site. This marks a major milestone. It’s the first all-female space crew since 1963!

Besides Sánchez, King, and Perry, the crew included:
