Tesla’s stock has been on a wild ride lately. Down more than 50% in three months? Ouch. That’s a lot of money vanishing into thin air. Even for Elon Musk, who saw his net worth take a serious hit.
What’s the big boss doing? He held an all-hands meeting Thursday night. His message to Tesla employees? Don’t panic!
“Stormy Weather” Won’t Last Forever
Musk acknowledged the “stormy weather” in the stock market. But he also painted a picture of a much brighter future for Tesla. “We’re going to do things that no one has ever dreamed of,” he told employees. Big words, right?
He started by thanking everyone for their hard work. Then, he rattled off some impressive achievements:
- Over seven million vehicles produced since 2008.
- On track to hit 10 million next year.
- Model Y was the world’s best-selling car in 2023. And he thinks it’ll happen again this year!
- Work-related injuries are down. That’s a good thing!
Musk also pointed out that Tesla is still a great place to work. Despite what you might read in the news.
Is the News Exaggerating?
Musk joked that it feels like “Armageddon” if you just watch the news. He mentioned seeing Teslas on fire all the time. This is likely a reference to recent acts of vandalism targeting Tesla vehicles and facilities.
Apparently, some people are upset about Musk’s role in President Trump’s administration. He heads up the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). DOGE claims to have saved a ton of money, but some critics aren’t buying it.
Musk didn’t talk about DOGE at the meeting. But he did say that setting Teslas on fire was “a bit unreasonable. ” You think?
A “Key Moment” for Leadership
Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives thinks the meeting was a good move by Musk. He called it a “key moment” to show leadership.
Ives even suggested that Musk take a step back from DOGE. He thinks it’s turning Tesla into a “political symbol. ”
Tesla’s stock has taken a beating. But Musk remains the wealthiest person in the world. Maybe he knows something we don’t? Only time will tell.
