Google Chrome. You use it every day, right? It’s pretty much the king of the internet browsers. More than 67% of people around the world use it. Safari is second, but way behind. Then there’s Microsoft Edge and Firefox.

But what if Google had to sell Chrome? Crazy, right?

Well, that’s what a judge is thinking about. See, Google’s been in court because some people think they have too much power in the search world. They think Google is a monopoly.

The judge is trying to figure out what to do. Should Google have to sell Chrome? Or maybe just share some of its search data?

    OpenAI Wants In

Here’s where it gets interesting. The other day, someone asked OpenAI (the folks behind ChatGPT) if they’d buy Chrome if Google had to sell it.

    Guess what they said?

    A big, fat YES!

Their Head of Product, Nick Turley, said they’d love to get their hands on Chrome. And he added that they wouldn’t be the only ones interested.

Think about it. ChatGPT and Chrome together? OpenAI thinks it could make something really cool. Something “AI-first. ”

    Why This Matters

Why should you care? Well, this could change how you use the internet. Imagine a browser that’s super smart, powered by AI.

    Here’s the deal:

    • Google’s in trouble for being too big.
    • A judge might make them sell Chrome.
    • OpenAI really wants Chrome.

The judge has until August to decide. It’s a pretty big deal. The last time a court ordered a big company to break up was way back in the 1980s with AT&T.

Will Google lose its crown jewel? Stay tuned!
