Think big sky, big opportunities. Montana snagged the top spot with a score of 9. 55. A 41% 10-year survival rate helps, too. They have 422 startups for every 100,000 people.

2. Oregon

Known for its quirky vibe and outdoorsy spirit, Oregon comes in second. A solid 355 startups per 100,000 people and a score of 8. 00 make it a strong contender.

3. Nevada

It’s not *all* gambling in Nevada. The Silver State boasts a score of 7. 20 and 368 startups per 100,000 residents.

4. Utah

With a thriving tech scene and a focus on innovation, Utah is a great place to launch. It has a score of 7. 15 and 382 startups per 100,000 people.

5. Florida

Sunshine and startups? Florida has a large number of new businesses and a score of 7. 10.

6. Wyoming

Don’t overlook Wyoming! This state has a surprising number of startups relative to its population. A score of 7. 10.

7. Idaho
